Dr. Md. Muhasin Uddin was born on 1 July 1970 in the village of Algi in Rajapur Upazila under Jhalokathi district, Bangladesh. He completed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Rajapur Pilot High School in 1988, securing First Division and ranking fourth in the Humanities group on the board merit list. In 1990 he obtained his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from B. M. College, Barishal, also with First Division, achieving 11th position on the merit list of the Jashore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

He graduated from the University of Dhaka in 1993 with a BA (Honours) in English, standing 12th in the departmental merit list, and later earned his MA in English Literature from the same department with 7th position. He obtained his PhD from Jahangirnagar University in 2010 for his dissertation titled 'Juan Rulfo and Magic Realism'.

Dr. Uddin began his academic career as a Lecturer in a Government College through the 18th BCS (Education) cadre. In 2007 he joined the Department of English at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh. In 2011 he moved to Comilla University as an Associate Professor of English, and later that year joined the University of Barishal in the same position. He was promoted to Professor in 2016. During his tenure at the university he has served in various academic and administrative capacities, including Chairman of the Department, Dean of the Faculty, Director of IQAC, Director of Students’ Affairs, Controller of Examinations, and Registrar. He has also served several times as Acting Vice-Chancellor.

His research interests primarily focus on the representation of reality in fiction, though he has also worked in areas such as translation studies, lexicography, and myth analysis. He has authored seven research-based scholarly books and sixteen articles in Bangla and English.

In addition to his academic career, he is actively engaged in literary and editorial work. He serves as the editor of the respected little magazine Dhansiri and practices creative writing. As a creative writer, he has published two collections of poetry, four travelogues, and translations of three notable works from world literature. After retirement from academia, he hopes to devote more time to creative writing.
