A seminar titled “Relevance of Economics and Research: Prospect for Future Engagement” was successfully held today [22th January 2026], organized by the Department of Economics, University of Barishal.

The session featured Dr. Sajjad Zohir, Executive Director of the Economic Research Group (ERG), as the keynote speaker. In his insightful discussion, Dr. Zohir highlighted the crucial role of economics and research in addressing real-world policy and development challenges.

He especially encouraged students to move beyond a purely job-oriented mindset and instead apply their acquired and self-developed knowledge to serve the country. Emphasizing research, critical thinking, and social responsibility, he inspired students to engage meaningfully in national development through economics.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, making it a highly enriching experience for students and participants.
